Shalom,

In Genesis 37 we read about Joseph and his dreams. Even his father was a little upset with Joseph for sharing his dreams! But then Jacob had really put Joseph in a bad situation with his brothers when he made for him a distinctive coat. Verse 3:

3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children because he was the son of his old age, and he made him a [distinctive] long tunic with sleeves.

Scholars disagree on what exactly the coat looked like. The phrase "many colored" from the KJV or "long sleeves" in the AMP is the Hebrew word "pac", which means: palm or sole; used of a tunic reaching to the palms of the hands or the soles of the feet. Other scholars say it refers to distinctive design or color. The main and most important point is that it represented that Jacob had decided to favor Joseph as his chosen heir. Needless to say, the brothers were NOT very happy about that, especially when Joseph began to relate his dreams to them. Joseph was sold into captivity and we will see the rest of the story in the coming days! We know that it all DOES turn out for the good of Joseph AND his family, but don't you think that God could have worked just as miraculously if Joseph had just kept quiet and not shared his dreams with someone not qualified to understand? Or if Jacob had not singled out Joseph so soon? That's something else for us to ask Jesus about when we get to Heaven! What fun it will be to see how it all played out!

People have many different ideas of how they think this coat looked. Below is MY favorite choice!

What do YOU think? That, after all, is what meditation is all about!

Shalom in Him!
