Today in Adult Bible Study at The Spoken Word Church we looked at Psalm 132. I want to share just two verses with you today that should give you some added understanding when you deal with people about God's plan for Israel! Psalm 132:13-14:
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His habitation: 14 This is My resting-place forever [says the Lord]; here will I dwell, for I have desired it. AMP
The "LORD" here is the Hebrew "Yehovah" or as we say "Jehovah", which is the Covenant Name of God. All of the Names of God that follow "Jehovah" are HIS answer to OUR needs! So the God of the Covenant said this in verse 14! HE picked "Zion", which refers to the fortified mound between the Kidron and Tyropean valleys, or to Mount Zion, or to the Temple Mount, or to all of Jerusalem, or even to all of Israel, as HIS dwelling place! HE claimed this for His own! HE has never reversed that claim! There were times, for the protection of the land, that He had to remove His people from the land or their sin would have destroyed. In 1948, when Israel became an official nation again, God began calling His people back to the land that He had given to them to possess. They will NEVER be removed from the land again! Whatever nations TRY to come against them will find themselves running up against the One, True, Most High, Living, Almighty God of the Bible! HE will WIN, every time! AMEN! So, settle it in your own heart that Israel belongs to God and to the Jewish people! Jesus has His throne in Heaven now and lives, by His Spirit, in the hearts of born again believers, BUT, He will one day lay claim to, and set His feet upon, Mount Zion and lay claim to all of Israel and Jerusalem HIS capital! Soon and very soon WE will rise to meet Him in the air and all of the evil forces of the world will try one last time to conquer Israel and will utterly fail!
