Shalom,

1 John 1:1-3 from the Amplified Bible:

1 [WE ARE writing] about the Word of Life [in] Him Who existed from the beginning, Whom we have heard, Whom we have seen with our [own] eyes, Whom we have gazed upon [for ourselves] and have touched with our [own] hands. 2 And the Life [an aspect of His being] was revealed (made manifest, demonstrated), and we saw [as eyewitnesses] and are testifying to and declare to you the Life, the eternal Life [in Him] Who already existed with the Father and Who [actually] was made visible (was revealed) to us [His followers]. 3 What we have seen and [ourselves] heard, we are also telling you, so that you too may realize and enjoy fellowship as partners and partakers with us. And [this] fellowship that we have [which is a distinguishing mark of Christians] is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah). AMP

An important key to understanding the Bible is to always ask yourself:
  1. Who is speaking?
  2. Who are they speaking to?
We must remember that the Epistles are letters written to the born again believers/churches. The teaching and instruction in the Epistles is only FOR believers! The only thing available to an unbeliever is to receive Jesus of Nazareth as Lord and personal Savior. Once they do that, then the rest of the New Testament is for their growth and development as a member of the Body/Church of Jesus Christ. One of the wonderful and amazing Truths revealed in the verses above is that (verse 3) what separates believers in Jesus from the unbelievers is that we believers have the opportunity and privilege to have deep, intimate fellowship with the one, True, Most High, Living, Almighty God of the Bible, through His Spirit Who lives IN us! Don't take that blessing and privilege for granted! Treasure your time with Him every day! When you do, you will find yourself growing more than ever before! Amen!
