Shalom,

I REALLY like this from today's devotional in "My Utmost For His Highest" by Oswald Chambers:

We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image . . . —2 Corinthians 3:18

The greatest characteristic a Christian can exhibit is this completely unveiled openness before God, which allows that person’s life to become a mirror for others. When the Spirit fills us, we are transformed, and by beholding God we become mirrors. You can always tell when someone has been beholding the glory of the Lord, because your inner spirit senses that he mirrors the Lord’s own character. Beware of anything that would spot or tarnish that mirror in you. It is almost always something good that will stain it— something good, but not what is best.

I think that this is exactly what happened to the religious leaders that Jesus was speaking to in today's reading in Matthew 23 from The Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan! These scribes and Pharisees SHOULD have recognized Jesus when He came because they had the easiest access to the Word of God of anyone else! Instead, they were content to look "good" on the outside, while their insides (spirit and soul) resembled dead men! They didn't reflect the life and light of Almighty God! Don't allow the opinions of others matter so much to you that you find yourself caught up in "appearing like" a Christian. Instead, BE a Christian! Spend enough time in His presence that you exude HIS life, speak HIS Word, and do the things that HE would do! You will have HIS results and people will be saved and blessed! Amen! Shalom in Him!
