Shalom,
Today we read Psalm 121 in our Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan. This is one of the 'Songs of Ascents' that it is believed the Jewish people sang on their way up to the Temple in Jerusalem to celebrate!
A Song of Ascents.
1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills [around Jerusalem, to sacred Mount Zion and Mount Moriah]—From whence shall my help come? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to slip or to be moved; He Who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand [the side not carrying a shield]. 6 The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. 8 The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
I LOVE these 'Songs of Ascents'! This is the faith of the people in the promises of their God! WE have an even BETTER Covenant than they had, which is based on even better PROMISES than theirs (Hebrews 8:6)! Why is it better? Because this Covenant has been sealed with the BLOOD of GOD's OWN SON! Let's make sure that WE are singing our very own 'Songs of Ascent', especially during these times in which we are living! Let's show, shout and sing our confidence in the ONE Who loves us MOST! HIS promises are sure and firm and His Word never fails! WE, os all people, have something to sing about! CONTINUALLY! HALLELUJAH! Here, to help you with that, is Hillsong with "King of Kings":
Shalom in Him!
