Shalom,
These instructions from today's Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan in 1 Peter 5:7-9 will put us in great position to walk in victory IF we become consistent DOERS of them!
7 Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. 8 Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. 9 Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset—rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.2 Corinthians 2:11 tells us that we are NOT ignorant of the schemes, tricks, traps and strategies of the devil! When we DO what we see above, the enemy cannot touch us! Another sure way to stay ahead of the enemy is to operate in the reverential fear of the Lord! Proverbs 19:23 tells us this:
23 The reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord leads to life, and he who has it rests satisfied; he cannot be visited with [actual] evil.
How do we maintain that reverential fear of the Lord? Spend time in His presence and in praise and worship for WHO HE IS! We can do that by using our own words and songs, or by using the built inworship found in the Psalms! Today's Psalm is a great one to us! Psalm 113:1-5:
1 Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!) Praise, O servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord! 2 Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forever 3 From the rising of the sun to the going down of it and from east to west, the name of the Lord is to be praised! 4 The Lord is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens! 5 Who is like the Lord our God, Who has His seat on high, 6 Who humbles Himself to regard the heavens and the earth!
AMEN! Another great way is to use songs that cause YOU to remember His greatness! Like THIS from Hillsong Yong and Free called "Indescribable":
Shalom in Him!
