THE DAY OF
TROUBLE
In Psalms,
David often talks about the day of trouble. Can you relate? Have you ever felt
like you were in the day of trouble?
What is the
day of trouble? It is a time in which it appears that every demon of hell has
launched an attack against you, like they have ganged up at your house. It’s
when it looks as though everything you are going through is impossible to
overcome. The pressure is great.
When you are
experiencing the day of trouble, you don’t sleep well at night and during the
day you are doing all that you can just to keep your sanity. It’s when you are
doing all that you know to do, but nothing seems to change.
You might be
in the same place today. Maybe you need some answers, wisdom, direction, and
guidance. Maybe you are at a point where you don’t know what else to do. Well,
I have good news for you.
Don’t ever
take your eyes off of God, even though it appears that nothing is working.
Don’t ever take your eyes off of God.
Psalm 20:1-5 says,
“The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend
thee; Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;
Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. Grant thee
according to thine own heart, and fulfill all thy counsel. We will rejoice in
thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord
fulfill all thy petitions.”
Notice what
the Word says God will do for us in the day of trouble. He will hear us, defend
us, send us help, and strengthen us. He will remember our offerings and fulfill
all our petitions. Those are powerful promises.
So if today
seems to be your day of trouble, then I want to encourage to read Psalm
20:1-5 over and over again. Begin to meditate on those promises and be
encouraged. God will defend you. God will help you!
