Today I want to share again from "My Utmost For His Highest" by Oswald Chambers because it goes along perfectly with our Bible reading in 2 Chronicles 1-3!

Don’t calculate without God.
God seems to have a delightful way of upsetting the things we have calculated on without taking Him into account. We get into circumstances which were not chosen by God, and suddenly we find we have been calculating without God; He has not entered in as a living factor. The one thing that keeps us from the possibility of worrying is bringing God in as the greatest factor in all our calculations. In our religion it is customary to put God first, but we are apt to think it is an impertinence to put Him first in the practical issues of our lives. If we imagine we have to put on our Sunday moods before we come near to God, we will never come near Him. We must come as we are.

Don’t calculate with the evil in view.
Does God really mean us to take no account of the evil? “Love…takes no account of the evil” (rv ). Love is not ignorant of the existence of the evil, but it does not take it in as a calculating factor. Apart from God, we do reckon with evil; we calculate with it in view and work all our reasonings from that standpoint.

Don’t calculate with the rainy day in view.
You cannot lay up for a rainy day if you are trusting Jesus Christ. Jesus said — “Let not your heart be troubled.” God will not keep your heart from being troubled. It is a command — “Let not.…” Haul yourself up a hundred and one times a day in order to do it, until you get into the habit of putting God first and calculating with Him in view.
When Solomon first began his reign in his father David's place, he was humble before the Lord, remembering all that his parents had taught him (see the Book of Proverbs for Solomon's mindset here). 2 Chronicles 1:1 tells us that God strengthened Solomon in his kingdom and made him great! When God decided to honor Solomon and asked him what He could give to him, Solomon replied in a way that pleased the Lord! 2 Chronicles 1:7-12:You cannot lay up for a rainy day if you are trusting Jesus Christ. Jesus said — “Let not your heart be troubled.” God will not keep your heart from being troubled. It is a command — “Let not.…” Haul yourself up a hundred and one times a day in order to do it, until you get into the habit of putting God first and calculating with Him in view.
7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, Ask what I shall give you. 8 And Solomon said to God, You have shown great mercy and loving-kindness to David my father and have made me king in his place. 9 Now, O Lord God, let Your promise to David my father be fulfilled, for you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude. 10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can rule this Your people who are so great? 11 God replied to Solomon, Because this was in your heart and you have not asked for riches, possessions, honor, and glory, or the life of your foes, or even for long life, but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may rule and judge My people over whom I have made you king, 12 Wisdom and knowledge are granted you. And I will give you riches, possessions, honor, and glory, such as none of the kings had before you, and none after you shall have their equal.
As we continue reading, we see the extent to which the Lord honored His promise to Solomon! He WAS the wisest man to ever live, until JESUS was born! Proverbs attests to his wisdom. BUT, as we continue reading about Solomon and his reign, we will see that as he disobeyed the Word of God concerning his wives, his life deteriorated to the point that he was at when he wrote the Book of Ecclesiastes! Thankfully, he returned to the Lord at the end of his life and realized his mistakes. WE can learn from Wisdom (someone else's mistakes) instead of making our own! Thank YOU, Lord, for giving us Your Word to give us general guidance in our lives and Your Spirit to give us that specific guidance that is necessary for each individual person to fulfill our calling! AMEN! Here is Hillsong United with a very powerful song of faith and commitment to HIM called "Captain":
Shalom in Him!
