There are two things that I want to share from today's Bible Reading Plan! First of all, Matthew 28:1-10:
1 Now after the Sabbath, near dawn of the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to take a look at the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled the boulder back and sat upon it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his garments as white as snow. 4 And those keeping guard were so frightened at the sight of him that they were agitated and they trembled and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, Do not be alarmed and frightened, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, Who was crucified. 6 He is not here; He has risen, as He said [He would do]. Come, see the place where He lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell His disciples, He has risen from the dead, and behold, He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you. 8 So they left the tomb hastily with fear and great joy and ran to tell the disciples. 9 And as they went, behold, Jesus met them and said, Hail (greetings)! And they went up to Him and clasped His feet and worshiped Him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, Do not be alarmed and afraid; go and tell My brethren to go into Galilee, and there they will see Me.
Twice these two women were commissioned to "go and tell" that Jesus had risen, first by the angel and then by Jesus Himself! THIS is the Gospel! Yes, women were commissioned to preach the Gospel by Jesus Himself! Now THAT will stagger SOME people! I really never knew, not having been raised in the Church, that women were thought to not be able to be ministers. By the time I had people telling me this, it was WAY too late! The Lord Jesus called me to be and do and I would never take the word of people over the Word of the Lord! Want another 'witness'? Look at Psalm 68:11:
11 The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it. KJV
Now the KJV isn't very clear here, but if you do further study, you will see that the Hebrew word for 'company' is a feminine word. Look at these translations, beginning with Young's Literal:
11 The Lord doth give the saying, The female proclaimers [are] a numerous host. YLT
11 Adonai gives the command; the women with the good news are a mighty army. CJB
11 The Lord gives the word; the women who announce the news are a great host: ESV
11 The Lord gives the word [of power]; the women who bear and publish [the news] are a great host. AMP
Shalom in Him!
