Have you ever been told that it is impossible for YOU to know the Word of God? That is one of the first things I heard when I received Jesus as Lord and Savior, and began to study the Word! Even other born again believers would say things like that. They would quote verses like this one in Romans 11:33:
33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
Yes, the Word and ways of God are completely out of the scope of our understanding in the natural! An unbeliever CANNOT understand the Word of God because they do not have the Teacher, the Holy Spirit, living in them (1 Corinthians 2:14). Born again believers can ONLY know the Word of God when they make a determined purpose to do so! Then it takes diligence, but it IS possible! Look at Hosea 6:3a:
3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord:
That little "if" there is the key! The Amplified Bible tells us this:
3 Yes, let us know (recognize, be acquainted with, and understand) Him; let us be zealous to know the Lord [to appreciate, give heed to, and cherish Him].
We've looked at Philippians 3:10 AMP many times on this blog because it is one of my very favorite Scriptures! The choice is completely up to me! WILL I make it MY determined purpose to know Him? Will YOU? I want to encourage you further in this, if you are making that choice today, with something from Mark 4:14-20:
14 The sower sows the Word. 15 The ones along the path are those who have the Word sown [in their hearts], but when they hear, Satan comes at once and [by force] takes away the message which is sown in them. 16 And in the same way the ones sown upon stony ground are those who, when they hear the Word, at once receive and accept and welcome it with joy; 17 And they have no real root in themselves, and so they endure for a little while; then when trouble or persecution arises on account of the Word, they immediately are offended (become displeased, indignant, resentful) and they stumble and fall away. 18 And the ones sown among the thorns are others who hear the Word; 19 Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasureand delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless. 20 And those sown on the good (well-adapted) soil are the ones who hear the Word and receive and accept and welcome it and bear fruit—some thirty times as much as was sown, some sixty times as much, and some [even] a hundred times as much.
In this passage, Jesus was explaining to His disciples the Parable of the Sower. Notice that in every example, the Word of God is sown! The Word is ALWAYS the same! The possibility, or potential, for the 30, 60 and 100 fold return on the hearing of the Word is present in every case! The only thing that differs in each case is the condition of the "soil" that the Word is sown in! This would be the heart, which is the combination of our born again spirit and our soul (mind, emotions and will). WE determine what condition our "soil" is in! If we are putting the Word of God first place, spending time in His presence, meditating on the Word, then we have the potential for 30, 60, and 100 fold blessings from the Word! THAT potential becomes reality when we not only commit to the diligent study of the Word, but when we become DOERS of that Word and not just hearers (James 1:22)! How much of this "unsearchable" Word can we know? It is only unsearchable because there will NEVER be an end to learning more! How MUCH we learn is only, and completely, up to US! It is up to ME! What choice will YOU make? I hope you will join me in this never ending, totally captivating, extremely enlightening and awesomely powerful search for the TRUTH found only in His Word, which IS Truth (John 17:17)! You will NEVER regret that decision! Here is Hillsong Kids with "I'm Not Ashamed":
Shalom in Him!
