Psalm 67 from today's Bible Reading Plan:
1 God be merciful and gracious to us and bless us and cause His face to shine upon us and among us - Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!— 2 That Your way may be known upon earth, Your saving power (Your deliverances and Your salvation) among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise You [turn away from their idols] and give thanks to You, O God; let all the peoples praise and give thanks to You. 4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for You will judge the peoples fairly and guide, lead, or drive the nations upon earth. - Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! 5 Let the peoples praise You [turn away from their idols] and give thanks to You, O God; let all the peoples praise and give thanks to You! 6 The earth has yielded its harvest [in evidence of God’s approval]; God, even our own God, will bless us. 7 God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth shall reverently fear Him.
We spoke in today's Adult Bible Study at The Spoken Word Church about the importance of motives in whatever we do. Remember that God judges the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). Why we do something for the Lord is just as important as WHAT we do! I LIVE by this from our partner Jerry O'Dell: "When we want what God wants, for the same reason He wants it, we cannot fail." Notice the 'WHY" for God blessing His people in verse 1 above:
2 That Your way may be known upon earth, Your saving power (Your deliverances and Your salvation) among all nations.
There is no limit to the abundant blessing that the God of the Bible desires to pour into our lives! BUT, we MUST maintain the correct motive, or the "why", for desiring to walk in the fullness of them! After all, the ONLY reason that God has those who belong to Him remain on the earth after the new birth, instead of immediately going to Heaven, is so that we can "seek and save the lost" just as Jesus did (Luke 19:10)! HE desires that NONE should perish! Let's continue to work on our "why" and watch the blessings begin to pour in! AMEN! Here is Hillsong United with "Go". Let's DO IT!
Shalom in Him!
