Those of us who have been born again by receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior have no need to struggle for perfection in order to please God. He is already pleased with us, not because of who WE are but because of WHOSE we are! We are now members of His very own family because of what Jesus has already done in and for us! Look at this wonderful promise from Romans 8:1-2:
1 THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death. AMP
There is NO judging of wrong for us because Jesus was already MADE to be sin with our sin so that He could remove it from us! NOW means right now, as opposed to some way off future time or any time in the past. This salvation that we received at the New Birth is active right at this moment! We no longer operate under the Old Covenant but are now subject to the law of the Spirit of Life! Notice the italics on the second half of verse 1. This means that these words were NOT present in the original manuscripts, but were added by the translators to explain something they could not understand! Being "in Christ Jesus" is enough to make us free from condemnation! NOW it is out of our grateful love for Him that we WANT to obey His Word because it pleases Him and brings joy to His heart! Being obedient to the Word of God causes us to be in position to receive and walk in, NOW, in THIS life, all that our Covenant with Him provides! Our citizenship is in Heaven (Philippians 3:20) and we are fully provided for ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20) here on earth, representing the best of Heaven so that others will decide to choose LIFE! Let's be joyfully about our Father's business of sharing the Gospel with all who will hear, making HIS #1 priority our own.
