Shalom,

Look at Psalm 99 from today's Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan:
The Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble [with reverential fear]! He sits [enthroned] above the cherubim, let the earth quake! The Lord is great in Zion, and He is high above all the peoples. Let them confess and praise Your great name, awesome and reverence inspiring! It is holy, and holy is He! The strength of the king who loves righteousness and equity You establish in uprightness; You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob (Israel). Extol the Lord our God and worship at His footstool! Holy is He! Moses and Aaron were among His priests, and Samuel was among those who called upon His name; they called upon the Lord, and He answered them. He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud; they kept His testimonies and the statutes that He gave them. You answered them, O Lord our God; You were a forgiving God to them, although avenging their evildoing and wicked practices. Extol the Lord our God and worship at His holy hill, for the Lord our God is holy!

Remember now that Psalms is an Old Testament book, written by believers who were under the Old Covenant. "LORD" in this entire Psalm refers to Jehovah - the Covenant Name of God. This psalmist was extolling the wonderful ways and works of the One, True God, and encouraging others to do so, also. WE have a BETTER Covenant, based on BETTER promises (Hebrews 8:6)! WE, the Church of Jesus Christ, the Body of Christ, born again believers, are unique to this particular time period (Titus 2:14; 1 Peter 2:9)! We have re-created spirits and the Spirit of God lives IN us (2 Corinthians 5:17)! That had never happened before! Under the Old Covenant, the Spirit of God came ONLY on the Prophet, the Priest and the King to anoint them for service. He did NOT live IN them! We are unique "new creatures"! WE, of ALL people, should be praising and worshiping HIM continually! AMEN! Spend some time today meditating on how "peculiar" we are, and how blessed AND how anointed! What is this all for? For the eternal salvation of God's human creation! Will all believe? I don't know, but all will have the opportunity! Let's be about our Father's business and let's do it well! Shalom in Him!
