We're going back to some very important basics today! Look at John 3:16-17:
16 For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him. AMP
People who have not received Jesus as Lord and Savior will sometimes question their need of a Savior by saying that a loving God would never send anyone to hell. This statement is TRUTH! God never has, and never will, send anyone to the hell of the Bible! When Adam sinned in the Garden, he committed high treason against the One, True, Most High, Living, Almighty God of the Bible! God had given HIS own dominion over the earth, and all that was in it, to Adam! Adam KNOWINGLY disobeyed God's instruction, turning his authority over the earth to satan. God KNEW that Adam would one day sin because He had KNOWINGLY given him the ability to choose! Before He ever made Adam, God had already planned how He would ransom mankind back to Himself! Everything you read in the Old Testament was preparing for the day when the Messiah and Savior would come into the earth to "seek and save that which was lost" (Luke 19:20)! So you see, God never sends anyone to hell! Our own choices determine that! In the verses above we see exactly why Jesus came and that He KNEW this! Look at these verses again! God gave His only Son so that WHOEVER would receive Him as Lord and personal Savior, would have "eternal life". We are ALL, believers AND unbelievers, eternal spirit beings! That means we will ALL live forever, through all eternity, SOMEWHERE! Jesus gave His life so that we could receive eternal "life", which is "zoe", life as God as within Himself! We HAVE the Spirit of God living in us! The same Spirit Who raised Jesus from the dead! ZOE! THAT is why Jesus came! AMEN! Now notice that Jesus also said that He did NOT come into the world to judge! The judgement for the sin nature, inherited from Adam, was already in play! JESUS rescued us FROM that judgement! Look at verse 18:
18 He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation — he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's name.] AMP
