With all of the attacks on Biblical morality in this nation, believers can sometimes lose sight of exactly why we are here! While on one hand we MUST speak up for what is good and godly, we must also realize that our main purpose for being here is the same as Jesus had in His ministry: to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10)! You have heard it said that we are to be IN the world, but not OF it. Here is what Jesus actually prayed to the Father for us! John 17:11, 14-19:

11 And [now] I am no more in the world, but these are [still] in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, keep in Your Name [in the knowledge of Yourself] those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We [are one].      ...   14 I have given and delivered to them Your word (message) and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world [do not belong to the world], just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that You will take them out of the world, but that You will keep and protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world (worldly, belonging to the world), [just] as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. 18 Just as You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And so for their sake and on their behalf I sanctify (dedicate, consecrate) Myself, that they also may be sanctified (dedicated, consecrated, made holy) in the Truth. AMP

And just in case you actually thought that Jesus was simply praying for His disciples of that time, here are verses 20-21:

20 Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching, 21 That they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me. AMP

WE are the ones who came to believe in Him through the Word! WE have our citizenship and source of supply in Heaven! Look at Philippians 3:20-21:

20 But we are citizens of the state (commonwealth, homeland) which is in heaven, and from it also we earnestly and patiently await [the coming of] the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [as] Savior, 21 Who will transform and fashion anew the body of our humiliation to conform to and be like the body of His glory and majesty, by exerting that power which enables Him even to subject everything to Himself. AMP

Use all of the resources of Heaven to preach the Gospel and BE the Light to someone caught up in the darkness! Share the Truth and let the Spirit of God make it come alive and be real to them!
