We began reading Jude in our Bible Reading Plan for today. Verse 1 says this:
1 JUDE, A servant of Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and brother of James, to those who are called (chosen), dearly loved by God the Father and separated (set apart) and kept for Jesus Christ: 2 May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.
Remember that Jude, a half brother of Jesus, did NOT believe on Jesus until after His death, burial and resurrection! Compare John 7:5 with Acts 1:14:
John 7:5 For neither did his brethren believe in him. KJV
Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. KJV
When Jesus instructed His disciples to wait in Jerusalem to be "endued with power from on high" (Luke 24:49), His mother and brothers obeyed! Now, here is Jude reinforcing what Peter had instructed in 2 Peter and exhorting them to stay filled with the Spirit and to continue walking in love. Jude 1:20-21:
20 But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit; 21 Guard and keep yourselves in the love of God; expect and patiently wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)--[which will bring you] unto life eternal.
Not only is this proof that the Living Word of God can change anyone, it is also good encouragement for us to never quit, but to get up and go hard after HIM! Become a person after God's own heart, as David was! Put HIM first place in your life and everything and everyone WILL fall into their proper place and be more blessed than ever before! AMEN! Shalom in Him!
