Proverbs 10:17 is a very important Truth to keep in mind when you are making decisions about how much time and attention you are going to give to the Word of God!
17 He who heeds instruction and correction is [not only himself] in the way of life [but also] is a way of life for others. And he who neglects or refuses reproof [not only himself] goes astray [but also] causes to err and is a path toward ruin for others.
We are NOT alone here! Everything we think, say and do affects those around us in some way. WE are NOT responsible for the choices of others, but we ARE responsible for what they see in our lives. We, as the Body of Christ, are the Lights of the world, just as Jesus was during His earthly ministry. We are carriers of the very Life, Light and Word of Almighty God! We ARE the only JESUS that some will ever see in this life! Let's make sure that we have a right motive for our Bible Study! We are to be TRANSFORMED by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2) so that the world can look on us and SEE Jesus! AMEN!
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. KJV
I saw this explanation in Thayer's Greek Lexicon for the Greek Word "metemprfoo", which is translated as "transformed in Romans 12:2: to change into another form; used of Christians: we are transformed into the same image (of consummate excellence that shines in Christ.
Let's look at the Amplified Bible for Romans 12:2:
2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. AMP
