We read Mark 8 in our Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan for today. I have always wondered, and have heard a few different opinions , about why JESUS would tell the blind man in verses 22-26 not to tell anyone about what JESUS had done for him.

22 And they came to Bethsaida. And [people] brought to Him {Jesus} a blind man and begged Him to touch him.
23 And He {Jesus} caught the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village; and when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands upon him, He asked him, Do you [possibly] see anything?
24 And he looked up and said, I see people, but [they look] like trees, walking.
25 Then He {Jesus} put His hands on his eyes again; and the man looked intently [that is, fixed his eyes on definite objects], and he was restored and saw everything distinctly [even what was at a distance].
26 And He {Jesus} sent him away to his house, telling [him], Do not [even] enter the village or tell anyone there.

If you notice, the end of verse 26 is in italics. This is beacuse those words were added by the translators and were not in the original text. Why would they have added them? For the same reason that Adam added to what God had instructed him concerning the Tree of Life in the Garden! FEAR! THIS is what GOD actually instructed Adam concerning the tree of Life in Genesis 2!

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. KJV

But THIS is what Adam told Eve (Because she wasn't there yet when God gave Adam the instuctions).

Genesis 3:Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 

When Eve said that, the serpent came back with this:

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  KJV

Adam was so concerned that Eve may eat of the tree that he warned her not to even touched it. Adding to, or subtracting from, the Word of God can have serious consequences! DON"T DO IT! KNOW the WORD OF GOD for yourself and you will NOT be fooled by the enemy and his lies! Here is Hillsong with "Say The Word":
