In today's Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan we read Proverbs 9. Verse 9 gives an important prerequisite for obtaining Wisdom!

9 Give instruction to a wise man and he will be yet wiser; teach a righteous man (one upright and in right standing with God) and he will increase in learning.

The very first wise decision that we can make is to desire Wisdom! Wisdom is only for those who belong to God by their choice. Then we see this in verses 10-11:

10 The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding. 11 For by me [Wisdom from God] your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.

Getting Wisdom is the goal. The fear (reverence and awe) of the Lord puts us in position to even be able to recieve Wisdom. Acting on the Wisdom that we receive (being a DOER of the WORD) causes the BLESSING of the Lord to be manifest inour lives! I hope that YOU desire WISDOM more than any earthly blessing!
