Shalom,
We read 1 Timothy 2 today and verses 1-5 are especially important in these days!
1 First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men, 2 For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life [and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way. 3 For such [praying] is good and right, and [it is] pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior, 4 Who wishes all men to be saved and [increasingly] to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the [divine] Truth. 5 For there [is only] one God, and [only] one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,Notice that even though many believe that we are to pray first of all for leaders, Paul is actually admonishing that PRAYER, all the different kinds of prayer, should be what we do FIRST! For ALL people, including leaders and those in positions of authority because THAT is needful for us to be able to have a life of peace in order to do these things! What is the ultimate reason for praying? Verse 4 tells us that it is because our Father desires that ALL people should receive JESUS as Lord and Saviour, and to know that TRUTH of His Word! One of the best quotes I have ever heard came from our ministry partner, Jerry O'Dell: "When we want what God wants, for the same reason that He wants it, we cannot fail!" So we should be praying because GOD desires us to pray so that HE can answer those prayers and people can be saved! Let's be about our Father's business, and do it HIS WAY! AMEN! Shalom in Him!
