The Gospel of John is my favorite Gospel. I especially love reading it, over and over again, from the Amplified Bible! There is SO much TRUTH! Here is an example from today's Spoken Word Bible Plan reading. John 1:12-13:
12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name— 13 Who owe their birth neither to bloods nor to the will of the flesh [that of physical impulse] nor to the will of man [that of a natural father], but to God. [They are born of God!]
Remember the Scripture that says that while we were yet (still) sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)? Well, WHEN He did, He gave every person, everywhere, the OPPORTUNITY to become a child of the Living God! NOT by DOING or BEING anything! Simply by BELIEVING and RECEIVING! Once we have received JESUS as our Lord and personal Savior, NOTHING can ever again separate us from HIM! No, not even our continued sinning (making selfish choices to do something our own way instead of God's way)! When we miss it, and we will, we have been given 1 John 1:9 as our way to smack the devil in the teeth and take back what our momentary lapses may have cost us! GOD will NEVER turn His back on us because of that. He's "been there, done that" with JESUS on the cross, so that He will NEVER have to do that where you and I are concerned! NEVER! Refuse to let the lies of satan steal the joy of your salvation! Stay in fellowship with the One., True God of the Bible and you will find yourself properly using your weapons of faith to shut the enemy right up! AMEN!
