Shalom,

We read Psalm 136 in our Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan for today. Verses 1-3 and verse 26 all exhort us to "give thanks" to the LORD! We already know, from 1 Thessalonians 5:18 , that we are to thank the Lord AT ALL TIMES! He IS our Answer for every problem, situation and circumstance! He IS all of the good things that this Psalm says about Him! There is something else interesting about this Psalm that I have shared before. We KNOW that His mercy 'endures' forever, but those words are not in this Psalm - AT ALL! Instead, THIS is what we are being instructed to do:

1 O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy, for ever.
2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for His mercy, for ever.
3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for His mercy, for ever. KJV

WE are to thank HIM! First of all for WHO HE IS! Then, for His mercy, which is the Hebrew word "checed", which means: loving-kindness, steadfast love, faithfulness, goodness, devotion. HE is DEVOTED to YOU! FOREVER!!! So, we are being instructed here to give Him thanks for this precious and wonderful MERCY! But we are to be doing this FOREVER! I firmly believe that all throughout eternity future, HIS praise shall be ringing throughout the entire universe! Let's get our practice rounds in here, in this life, so we can do it very well in the future! AMEN! Here is Hillsong Worship with one of my favorite new songs, "Love So Great":
