One of the most precious, and most powerful, of the gifts that God has given to me, and to every Spirit-filled believer, is the gift of our prayer language! 1 Corinthians 14:2 says this:

2 For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto men, but unto God: for no man understands him; howbeit in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

With this prayer language, we are NOT praying out of our natural mind with it's limitations, but we are praying with the assistance of Holy Spirit Who lives IN us! Let's look at this same verse from the Amplified Bible:

2 For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding].

When we come to the end of our own understanding of a certain situation, praying in tongues will put us in direct communication, spirit to Spirit, with the heart of God! HE knows exactly what is needed in each and every case! THAT is something that I REALLY need to know! Another thing that this wonderful gift does for me is to build up my faith! We know that faith COMES by hearing, over and over again, the Word of God on any particular subject (Romans 10:17), but building up and increasing that faith comes by praying in the Spirit, or in an unknown tongue! How do I know this? I read it in today's Bible Reading Plan! Jude 1:20:

20 But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit;

AMEN! I encourage you to set yourself to pray in the Spirit more now than ever before!
