We read Psalm 93 today in our Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan. Here is the entire Psalm:
1 The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty; the Lord is robed, He has girded Himself with strength and power; the world also is established, that it cannot be moved.
2 Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting.
3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up the roaring of their waves.
4 The Lord on high is mightier and more glorious than the noise of many waters, yes, than the mighty breakers and waves of the sea.
5 Your testimonies are very sure; holiness [apparent in separation from sin, with simple trust and hearty obedience] is becoming to Your house, O Lord, forever.
The very first verse sets the tone for the entire Psalm, and for our attitude towards HIM! He "reigns"! This is the Hebrew word "malak", which means: to ascend to the throne; to induct into royalty; to be or become king or queen; to fill the function of a ruler over someone; to function as the commander-in-chief of the army; the chief executive of the group. When WE allow the Lord our God to ascend to the throne of our hearts and lives, then we will see His results! Remember that OUR God IS God! And, HE REIGNS! He IS the King of all kings and the LORD of all lords (1 Timothy 6:15), BUT, He can only operate as the King of our lives here on earth when we allow Him to! He will stand by and allow us to make our own choices concerning that because He has given us the priceless gift of a free will! He will NOT, and He CANNOT force us to do anything, but the moment WE crown HIM the King of our lives, we have access to all of Heaven in order to live the very most victorious life, here and now! Remember John 10:10:
10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
