We see this in Matthew 10:34-36 today:
34 Do not think that I have come to bring peace upon the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to part asunder a man from his father, and a daughter from her mother, and a newly married wife from her mother-in-law— 36 And a man’s foes will be they of his own household.
"Peace" here is the Greek word "eirene", which means: a state of national tranquility; exemption from rage and war; harmony and accord between individuals. Jesus did NOT come to bring THAT peace! He came to bring HIS "peace" which is "shalom" (completeness, prosperity, welfare) with and in HIM! Notice that Jesus said that He came to bring a sword! The sword He brings is His Word (Ephesians 6:17; Hebrews 4:12)! It is this very Word that will bring the division He speaks of. The division is between those who choose to believe and act on the Word of God and those who do not! What should we do when this division hits OUR households? PRAY! Pray that the eyes of their understanding be open to recognize their need for the Savior! Pray for the right laborers to come into their life that will present the Gospel in the way that they will receive! AMEN! But, whatever you do, do NOT stop going ON with God! Your life, filled with HIS Life and Light and Word, will be a testimony to them that He IS real! AMEN! Pray Paul's prayers in Ephesians 1, Ephesians 3 and Colossians 1 over them. God's Word works, WHEN we work it! So let's get at it, all the while thanking HIM for the BEST results! AMEN! Here is Hillsong with "Hosanna":
