I LOVE this admonition from Proverbs 23:17-19 today!
17 Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord all the day long. 18 For surely there is a latter end [a future and a reward], and your hope and expectation shall not be cut off. 19 Hear, my son, and be wise, and direct your mind in the way [of the Lord].
"The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord" is an attitude that we MUST adapt for THIS life! The "future and reward" promised here includes the rewards given to us at the throne of Jesus for our obedience to His instructions in this life, but it is NOT just for those rewards! They rewards God has given for being where HE wants us to be and doing what HE wants us to do is also for THIS life! Look at Ephesians 1:3:
3 May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm!
HE has ALREADY blessed us, HERE, in THIS life, with every spiritual blessing! Let's learn how to walk in the fullness of that Blessing here, in our life on earth, so that we can give HIM all the credit for it and others will be drawn to HIM because of our living witness and testimony!
