In our Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan for today we read Isaiah 61-62. Look at Isaiah 61:1-2a:
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound, 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favor]
I KNOW that you recognize this! This is what Jesus read from the scroll in Luke 4:18-19:
18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me [the Anointed One, the Messiah] to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity], 19 To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound.] AMP
When Jesus had finished reading the above, He said this in verse 21:
21 And He began to speak to them: Today this Scripture has been fulfilled while you are present and hearing. AMP
Jesus was telling them that the prophecy was being fulfilled right at that time, and that HE was the One they were seeking! When Jesus (Yeshua) finished His earthly ministry and fulfilled His Divine purpose of becoming sin with our sin and sick with our sicknesses, He ascended to Heaven and sat down! We are also told that He is waiting for His enemies top be made His footstool (Matthew 22:44; Mark 12:36; Luke 20:43)! WHO is going to put the enemies of Jesus under HIS feet? WE ARE! The Body of Christ, the born again ones, the Church of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20)! WE are to walk in all of the authority, as sons (male and female) of God, that Jesus walked in on the earth! All who have received Jesus as Lord and personal Savior have the Spirit of Almighty God living IN us, to lead, guide and direct us in all the areas of our lives and ministries! WE should be declaring in the face of the enemy:
"The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon ME, because He has anointed ME to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent ME to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity], 19 To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound.]"!
What message are YOU proclaiming to the people in YOUR realm of influence? Make sure that it is HIS message and not the message of the world! There is NO Life in the message of the world! AMEN!
