One of my favorite verses in all of the Proverbs is Proverbs 9:10, from our Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan for today!
10 The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.
We know that JESUS said that the first and most important commandment is to love the Lord our God with our whole being! THIS is where the "reverent and worshipful 'fear of the Lord'" comes from! We honor Him, thank Him and praise Him for all that He has already done for us! WHEN we do this, bringing glory to HIS Name, then we are in a great position to see more clearly, hear more clearly and make wise, informed choices! And the promise that HE has given us for doing so? Verse 11:
11 For by me [Wisdom from God] your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.
The key to truly walking in the Truth of the Word like this is to be actively pursuing JESUS on a daily basis! When Paul declared that his 'determined purpose' was to KNOW JESUS more progressively every day, THIS is what he was speaking of! Put JESUS first in your life - TOP PRIORITY! Then begin to reverence Him and be in awe of His presence - IN YOU! Then, when you begin to see the manifestations of this in your life, remember that by operating in THIS Wisdom, you release the blessings of God into your life, those blessings which cause you to be wise, and blessed, anointed and have beautiful days and a long, healthy life!
