Shalom,

Today's "My Utmost For His Highest" by Oswald Chambers contains this exhortation:

Will ye also go away? — John 6:67

A penetrating question. Our Lord’s words come home most when He talks in the most simple way. We know Who Jesus is, but in spite of that He says – “Will ye also go away?” We have to maintain a venturing attitude toward Him all the time.

“From that time many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him.” They went back from walking with Jesus, not into sin, but they relapsed. Many to-day are spending and being spent in work for Jesus Christ, but they do not walk with Him. The one thing God keeps us to steadily is that we may be one with Jesus Christ. After sanctification the discipline of our spiritual life is along this line. If God gives a clear and emphatic realisation to your soul of what He wants, do not try to keep yourself in that relationship by any particular method, but live a natural life of absolute dependence on Jesus Christ. Never try to live the life with God on any other line than God’s line, and that line is absolute devotion to Him. The certainty that I do not know – that is the secret of going with Jesus.

AMEN! This goes right along with today's reading in Mark 12:28-30:
28 Then one of the scribes came up and listened to them disputing with one another, and, noticing that Jesus answered them fitly and admirably, he asked Him, Which commandment is first and most important of all [in its nature] 29 Jesus answered, The first and principal one of all commands is: Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord; 30 And you shall love the Lord your God out of and with your whole heart and out of and with all your soul (your life) and out of and with all your mind (with your faculty of thought and your moral understanding) and out of and with all your strength. This is the first and principal commandment.

Our very first responsibility, no matter what our calling and anointing entails, is to LOVE the Lord our God with everything that is within us! HE must be our #1 priority! This is over spouse, children, family, friends, relatives, jobs, or any other thing that occupies our heart and attention! When we DO this, then everything else falls right into place and everyone in our lives is loved, honored and blessed by us more than they ever could be otherwise! Let's set our hearts to do this, and to be consistent in doing it. WE will be in the place of great rewards and blessing and GOD will be glorified! AMEN! Shalom in Him!
