Shalom,

This week we have been looking inwardly a lot, examining ourselves to see how WE are doing in our obedience to the Word of God! Today's Bible Reading is another look at ourselves! We begin in Proverbs 1 and I want to look at verses 1-7:

1 THE PROVERBS (truths obscurely expressed, maxims, and parables) of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: 2 That people may know skillful and godly Wisdom and instruction, discern and comprehend the words of understanding and insight, 3 Receive instruction in wise dealing and the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, righteousness, justice, and integrity, 4 That prudence may be given to the simple, and knowledge, discretion, and discernment to the youth —  5 The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel [so that he may be able to steer his course rightly] —  [Prov 9:9.] 6 That people may understand a proverb and a figure of speech or an enigma with its interpretation, and the words of the wise and their dark sayings or riddles. 7 The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline. AMP

In verse 4, the word "simple" is the Hebrew word "pethiy", which means: silly or seducible. These Proverbs were given to give "subtilty", the Hebrew word "`ormah", which means: discretion, shrewdness, prudence, wisdom. The answer for silliness and immaturity is to meditate on the Word of God so that the Word can bring wisdom to us! The "silly" person simply hasn't grown up yet! In verse 7 we see that a "fool" will despise Godly wisdom! This is the Hebrew word ""`ewil", which means: a morally undesirable person who despises wisdom and discipline. Where the "simple" require growing up, the "fool" requires a complete change of attitude! If YOU have been "simple" then get into the Word of God and act on what you find! You WILL grow up in the things of God! If you have been a "fool", then repent! Change your thinking to agree with God and His Word! Stop despising the Word and start disciplining yourself to know Him a little more very day! THEN you will NOT be simple OR a fool! AMEN! Here is Hillsong United with a song that is new to me called "All Day":

Shalom in Him!
