Shalom,

Today we read Psalm 38 in our Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan. Even though this is a Psalm of David, which was written during the Old Covenant, his response to the attacks of the enemy is exactly the way we should respond to attacks on our lives today! We have a new and better Covenant than David did, but the principles for applying the Covenant promises is the same! Look at verses 12-15:
12 They also that seek and demand my life lay snares for me, and they that seek and require my hurt speak crafty and mischievous things; they meditate treachery and deceit all the day long. 13 But I, like a deaf man, hear not; and I am like a dumb man who opens not his mouth. 14 Yes, I have become like a man who hears not, in whose mouth are no arguments or replies. 15 For in You, O Lord, do I hope; You will answer, O Lord my God.

David said that when the enemy tried to trip him up by setting traps for him and by speaking evil of him, he made the choice NOT to listen and not to speak! He didn't argue, debate or try to convince those set against him that they were wrong. He didn't fight with them, verbally or otherwise, unless the LORD told him to go to war. When we refuse to let the garbage of the world into our eyes and ears, then it becomes very easy to speak the right thing rather than the wrong! THAT is why we have the instruction to be swift to hear (good and godly things), slow to speak (until we have heard) and slow to develop wrath (
James 1:19). Then, when we speak, we will speak the WORD and have God's results, bringing glory to HIM! AMEN! Remember that people are watching how we handle every situation because they are hurting and searching and they truly want to find out if what we are speaking and living is REAL! Let's show them that HE IS! AMEN! Here is Hillsong Young and Free with "Let Go":

Shalom in Him!
