In keeping with our subject of Wisdom as we continue through the Book of Proverbs in our Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan, Proverbs 9:10-11 says this:
10 The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding. 11 For by me [Wisdom from God] your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.
If we truly desire to receive Godly Wisdom, then our first priority, and prerequisite, is to fear the LORD! This is not being afraid of Him, but revering Him! Being in Awe of Who He is and thankful for all that He has done for us! This also involves putting God and His will and plans and purposes as our own top priority! When we do this, the Wisdom hidden FOR us within the Word of God will become so clear and abundant that we will wonder how others can possibly miss it! I LOVE being in that place where I am completely convinced that God and His Word are ALWAYS Truth, even if by it being so it shows all others up to be liars! There IS only one TRUTH and that is the Word of God! John 17:17:
17 Sanctify them in the truth [set them apart for Your purposes, make them holy]; Your word is truth.
Proverbs 9:9 tells us this:
9 Give instruction to a wise man and he will be yet wiser; teach a righteous man (one upright and in right standing with God) and he will increase in learning.
That means that when we choose Wisdom, the more we follow after GETTING Wisdom, and then OBEYING that Wisdom, more and more of the Word of God will be opened and illuminated to us! I LOVE that promise! How about you? Then we have this admonition in verse 12:
12 If you are wise, you are wise for yourself; if you scorn, you alone will bear it and pay the penalty.
This WISDOM is telling us that it is an individual choice whether or not to pursue Wisdom! I CANNOT get Wisdom for YOU, and you CANNOT get Wisdom for ME! When each one of us develops a hunger and thirst for the Word of God which cannot be satisfied with anything less, then we, individually, will receive continued, increasing and multiplied Wisdom, knowledge and understanding from the word of God! Holy Spirit is our Teacher, and He teaches each of us individually! I hope that you are committing to making 2017 the year of continually increasing Wisdom in your life!
