Every time I read Psalm 14:1 in the Amplified Bible I have another "aha" moment! I have gotten into many "discussions" over the years with people who claim to be atheists. It has, for the most part, been fruitless! Why? Look at the verse:
1 THE [empty-headed] fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable deeds; there is none that does good or right.
Aha! THAT explains everything! When led by the Spirit of God, these discussions CAN have benefits because the Holy Spirit knows the heart of a person and whether or not they are ready to hear! BUT, if not, then there is just no reasoning with an "empty-headed fool"! Just continue to pray for them and pray especially that the Father would send the RIGHT laborers across their path (Matthew 9:38)! AMEN! Just continue to let YOU light shine (Matthew 5:16) so that they have something to see and, WHEN they are ready, they will ask what makes YOU different (1 Peter 3:15)! Whatever you do, do NOT respond to them scornfully or haughtily. Remember that at this point in time they cannot possibly understand the Word of God (1 Corinthians 2:14)! Remember, also, that at one point in time, many of YOU were just such a person! Instead, let these episodes become an occasion to thank and worship Jesus for Who He is and for what He has done for YOU! AMEN! Here is a new song by Hillsong Worship to help you remember that!
