Joel 2:28-32 in today's Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan says this:
28 And afterward I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. 29 Even upon the menservants and upon the maidservants in those days will I pour out My Spirit. 30 And I will show signs and wonders in the heavens, and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. 32 And whoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered and saved, for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as the Lord has said, and among the remnant [of survivors] shall be those whom the Lord calls.
Do you recognize these verses? When the disciples in the upper room were all filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, they all began to speak in other tongues. Some spoke in tongues of Heaven and some spoke in tongues of men so that those witnessing this from other areas heard them in their own languages! In explaining what was occurring, Peter said this in Acts 2:16-21:
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. KJV
The Amplified Bible says "this is the beginning of that"! Although some would choose to believe that we know longer NEED the infilling of the Holy Spirit, GOD did not agree! HE said that we would need these precious gifts UNTIL "that which is perfect is come" (1 Corinthians 13:9-10)! HE has not come again yet and though He has given us His Word, not one of us understands it perfectly, and we won't, until we see Him face to face (1 Corinthians 13:12)! AMEN!
