Yesterday I shared my favorite Scripture in Philippians 3:10 and that MY goal is to KNOW HIM! Look at what David instructed his son Solomon to do as he took over rule of Israel and the building of the Temple in 1 Chronicles 28:9:
9 And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father [have personal knowledge of Him, be acquainted with, and understand Him; appreciate, heed, and cherish Him] and serve Him with a blameless heart and a willing mind. For the Lord searches all hearts and minds and understands all the wanderings of the thoughts. If you seek Him [inquiring for and of Him and requiring Him as your first and vital necessity] you will find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever!
Notice that David did NOT instruct his son to attempt the impossible, to live without ever making a mistake! Instead, he instructed him to do the most important and most powerful thing that a believer can do - KNOW HIM! Have a heart that goes hard after God! WHEN you make a mistake, confess it (1 John 1:9) and then get back to the Word so that you can continue to know Him more! AMEN! Here is a new (to me) song that speaks powerfully about the importance of really knowing Him! NOT just knowing ABOUT Him (Religion) but really getting to KNOW Him, through His Word!
