Shalom,

One of the most freeing verses in the New Testament is 1 John 1:9

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. KJV

We know as born again believers that JESUS paid the price for our sin by becoming sin with our sin on the cross. Some believers say that we don't even have to confess our sin anymore, but the verse above is in the Epistles, the letters of instruction for the  churches! What trips these believers up is that they do not understand what the word "confess" means! It is the Greek word "homologeo" which means to assent, to acknowledge, to admit. It also means to declare, assent, covenant when referring to our declarations of faith in the Word of God and the promises of God. In the Scripture above it simply means to recognize the sin (our selfish decision to do things our own way instead of God's way) and to RECEIVE His forgiveness that is already ours! When we do this, acknowledge and receive, the enemy can no longer hold it over you to intimidate you! What JESUS already dealt with does not have to be dealt with again, except to BELIEVE and RECEIVE! Now when we look at Psalm 32 in our Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan for today, we see what David was doing, and WE have an even better Covenant, based on better promises, than David had! Our sin is no longer covered, but obliterated! HALLELUJAH!!!

1 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is he who has forgiveness of his transgression continually exercised upon him, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man to whom the Lord imputes no iniquity and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

5 I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide. I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord [continually unfolding the past till all is told]—then You [instantly] forgave me the guilt and iniquity of my sin. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

Make sure that you are recognizing when you miss it, acknowledging it, receiving the forgiveness that is continually available to you and FORGIVING youself and FORGETTING it! Move on in joy and peace KNOWING what JESUS has already done for you! HALLELUJAH! Here are Hillsong Kids with "Voices of Freedom":

Shalom in Him!
