Shalom,

In following our Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan we have finished with Psalms for the first time through. Today we begin the book of Proverbs and I fully expect to gain even more Wisdom with another time through! Proverbs 1:1-7:

1 The proverbs (truths obscurely expressed, maxims, and parables) of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: 2 That people may know skillful and godly Wisdom and instruction, discern and comprehend the words of understanding and insight, 3 Receive instruction in wise dealing and the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, righteousness, justice, and integrity, 4 That prudence may be given to the simple, and knowledge, discretion, and discernment to the youth— 5 The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel [so that he may be able to steer his course rightly]— 6 That people may understand a proverb and a figure of speech or an enigma with its interpretation, and the words of the wise and their dark sayings or riddles. 7 The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline.

The most important element in gaining Wisdom from the Word of God and especially from Proverbs is found in verse 7! In order to gain Wisdom, we must FIRST have a reverence and respect for the Lord our God and for His Word! As we meditate on God's Word, new illumination comes by Holy Spirit Who lives IN every born again believer! Joshua 1:8 explains to us the importance and benefit of meditation!

This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.

Make it your determined purpose to not simply memorize Bible verses, but to meditate! Here is Hillsong with "Your Word":

Shalom in Him
