And Aloha! I have just returned from the very best vacation ever! So excited to get back to sharing God's Word with all of you! Today, in our Spoken Word Bible Reading Plan, we read Psalm 121. Here it is in its entirety!
Psalm 121
A Song of Ascents.
1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills [around Jerusalem, to sacred Mount Zion and Mount Moriah]—From whence shall my help come? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to slip or to be moved; He Who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand [the side not carrying a shield]. 6 The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. 8 The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
This Psalm is a an Old Covenant promise to the God's people. He promises to be their "Keeper"! This, along with all of the underlined forms of the word, is the Hebrew word "shamar", which means: to hedge about, to guard, to protect, to attend to, to observe, to save, to watch (as a watchman), to treasure up, to preserve. Now, knowing that we have an even BETTER Covenant, that is based on even better promises than those made to Israel (Hebrews 8:6), we should be very excited to read this and to expect AT LEAST all of this, and then so much more! There is not one aspect of life here on earth that is not covered here! The biggest difference between this Covenant and the one that we have , is that the children of Israel were God's chosen people to bring the Saviour into the world. When they chose to, they walked WITH GOD and HE with them! When they didn't, then the promises did not benefit them. We, those who have been have received JESUS as our Lord and personal Saviour, have been born again as CHILDREN of the Most High God, by the Spirit of God! We have God walking IN US! SO, we should expect, WHEN we walk in agreement with His Word, to have every need met and to have God's wonderful plans and purposes (Jeremiah 29:11 AMP) carried out in our lives! Dare to BELIEVE and RECEIVE all that God planned, JESUS purchased and Holy Spirit reveals to us! THEN, share this glorious, powerful, wonderful Gospel with everyone you know, and those you don't! This brings God great delight and us rewards in Heaven yet to come, as well as a harvest of good and Godly things in the 'here and now'! AMEN!
