Shalom,

Psalm 122 is a very important Psalm to know the God of the Bible's heart concerning the city of Jerusalem!
I was glad when they said to me, Let us go to the house of the Lord!
Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem!—
Jerusalem, which is built as a city that is compacted together—
To which the tribes go up, even the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed and as a testimony for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord.
For there the thrones of judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they prosper who love you [the Holy City]!
May peace be within your walls and prosperity within your palaces!
For my brethren and companions’ sake, I will now say, Peace be within you!
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek, inquire for, and require your good.

I am leaving the verses standing alone for emphasis today! Verse 3 says that Jerusalem is as a city that is compacted together. "Compacted" is the Hebrew word "chabar", which means: to unite, to join, to bind together, to be joined, to be coupled. This city, which is the God-given capital of God's nation of Israel, is indeed compacted together! In the Old City sections, everything is very close together and crowded. In the new part of the city there is construction going on. When we visited Israel we learned from our guide that the outer boundaries of the city have already been set! Now they begin to build from the outside in! The new construction will NOT expand the city further, but will be "compacted" into the set borders! I like this! God alone controls the borders! It will NOT be divided! There are many people groups and nations that are calling for Israel to divide the city again and give half of it to the enemies of Israel! THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN! As we say many times, it is MOST important to always be on GOD'S side of any situation! Now YOU know what God's side is in this! Pray for the peace and prosperity of the nation of Israel and the city of Jerusalem! Verse 6 promises this:

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. KJV

AMEN! Here is Paul Wilbur with a very old song called "Shalom Jerusalem":

Shalom in Him!
