Shalom,

Psalm 122 is another of the Psalms of Ascents, or Songs of Degrees. This is what those making the pilgrimage to Jerusalem for the Feasts would have been singing! Verses 6-7 is an instruction and a promise for US in our day!

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they prosper who love you [the Holy City]! 7 May peace be within your walls and prosperity within your palaces!

Our responsibility is to pray for peace, even though what the world considers peace will NOT come until Messiah Jesus returns to the earth to rule and reign! Here is an explanation from the Bible Exposition Commentary:

The name "Jerusalem" means "foundation of peace," and yet the city has been a center of conflict for centuries. If we understand biblical prophecy correctly, there can be no peace in Jerusalem or on earth until the Prince of Peace reigns on David's throne (Isa 9:6-7; Luke 1:26-33). So, when we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we are actually praying, "Thy kingdom come" (Matt 6:10) and "Even so, come, Lord Jesus" (Rev 22:20). Jesus wept over the city because they were ignorant of the peace God had for them (Luke 19:41-48) and had rejected their own Messiah (John 11:47-48). But our intercession must not be perfunctory prayers; they must come from our heart because we love God and love His people. Note the fruit of the Spirit in this psalm: love (v. 6), joy (v. 1), and peace (vv. 6-8; Gal 6:22).

The reward for our obedience to pray for the peace and prosperity of Jerusalem is prosperity for us! That means being secure and in control of every area of our lives! Thank You, Jesus! We KNOW that prosperity is His will for us, because we see THIS in 3 John 2 today:

2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.

The word "prosper" here is the Greek word "euodoo", which means: to help on the road; to succeed in reaching;to succeed in business affairs; in material things. Keep praying for Israel and Jerusalem and keep YOUR prosperity flowing!

Here is Paul Wilbur singins "Up To Jerusalem":

Ezekiel 11-12 contain more warnings and instructions for the people of Israel. God told them they would be exiled. He also told them that they would return. AS you read through, notice all of the "I will" verses where God is speaking about what He intends to do. Isaiah 55:11 tells us the the Word that God speak will not return to Him empty, but will accomplish on the earth exactly what He sent it forth to accomplish! As we read through the Old Testament prophets, we can see that many of the things prophesied have happened. This should give us great confidence that those yet to be fulfilled, WILL BE fulfilled! no doubt about it! Keep watching for the signs! Soon and very soon! Amen!

Shalom in Him!
