Psalm 61:1-2:
1 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
He IS that solid rock foundation in our lives! Once we make Jesus of Nazareth our Lord and personal Saviour, then we have to spend timer DAILY in His presence in order to become ALL that He has prepared us to be! I first heard these verses sung in a song almost thirty years ago. This was BEFORE videos, so this was the closest I could get to the actual song!
There have been many variations that are pretty good, but this one was always MY favorite! When we pray according to the Word of God, He absolutely does ATTEND to those prayers! Sing the Psalms! they are POWERFUL!
Mark 5 contains one of the greatest examples of following HARD after God! Verses 25-34:
25 And there was a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years,
26 And who had endured much suffering under [the hands of] many physicians and had spent all that she had, and was no better but instead grew worse.
27 She had heard the reports concerning Jesus, and she came up behind Him in the throng and touched His garment,
28 For she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health.
29 And immediately her flow of blood was dried up at the source, and [suddenly] she felt in her body that she was healed of her [distressing] ailment.
30 And Jesus, recognizing in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around immediately in the crowd and said, Who touched My clothes?
31 And the disciples kept saying to Him, You see the crowd pressing hard around You from all sides, and You ask, Who touched Me?
32 Still He kept looking around to see her who had done it.
33 But the woman, knowing what had been done for her, though alarmed and frightened and trembling, fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.
34 And He said to her, Daughter, your faith (your trust and confidence in Me, springing from faith in God) has restored you to health. Go in (into) peace and be continually healed and freed from your [distressing bodily] disease.
To understand just how a high a price she had to pay, we need to realize that a person with an issue of blood could NOT be seen in public, especially not in a crowd! Everywhere they went, if people were around, they had to shout "UNCLEAN, UNCLEAN" in order to warn people to get out of her way! She was not supposed to be in a crowd and she was NEVER supposed to touch someone! But HER faith, trust and confidence was in JESUS! She had such strong faith that simply touching Jesus would bring her healing that she did whatever it took to get close enough to Him to do it! How do YOU approach Jesus according to his Word?
In Exodus we see even more extraordinary things! Moses goes up to the mountain to receive God's Laws for His people and the people get restless and ask Aaron to make them a calf to worship! The extraordinary thing is that Aaron claims that he just threw in the gold to melt and out came this calf! NO! The Truth, which God knew all along, is found in Exodus 32:4:
4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
Take a look at THIS and see if YOU believe that THIS brought the Israelites out of Egypt:
I didn't think so! Don't let ANYTHING distract you from the promises and prophecies of God's Word!
