Shalom,

We looked at Psalm 58 on February 27 of this year. I encourage you to go back and check it out because it is even MORE true and useful today than it was then! I will only add a few things that I found in a commentary. The Commentary is the Bible Exposition Commentary - Old Testament. Here is one:

During David's exile years, Saul led the nation down a path of political and spiritual ruin as he disobeyed God's law and opposed God's anointed king. Saul was surrounded by a group of fawning flatterers who fed his ego and catered to his foolish whims, and he put into places of authority people who used their offices for personal gain and not for the national good. They wanted to get as much as they could before the kingdom collapsed.

Does that sound to YOU like it was ripped from the pages of our current history? And then this:

David addressed the lawless leaders and asked them if their words were just, their decisions legal, their sentences fair, and their silences honest. Were they upholding the law and defending the righteous or twisting the law and benefiting the wicked? He knew the answer, and so do we. When they should have spoken, they were silent, and when they spoke, they ignored God's law. The problem? They had evil hearts, for they were born in sin just like the rest of us. However, they made no effort to seek God's help in controlling that sinful nature but gave in to its evil impulses. It's because humans are sinners that God established government and law, for without law, society would be in chaos. It's from the heart that evil words come out of our mouth and evil deeds are done by our hands.

Again, this sounds like we are reading about some of the politicians and unjust judges of today! Why are they like that? Because that is the NATURAL nature of man! We are born with a sin nature that comes down from Adam. A child is born innocent, but there WILL come a time when they understand right from wrong and will eventually disobey! That's why every person ever born is a personal sinner in need of a personal Saviour! Thank the One, True, Most High, Living, Almighty God of the Bible for providing the perfect Saviour for our sin, Jesus of Nazareth! Those evil leaders that we are speaking of have either never received Jesus of Nazareth as Lord and personal Saviour, or IF they have, they have never submitted themselves to the instruction of the Word of God or the correction of His Spirit! As always, God's Word has the answer for us! Verse 11:

11Men will say, Surely there is a reward for the [uncompromisingly] righteous; surely there is a God Who judges on the earth.

Thank You, Lord, that YOU are still in control!

I believe that in Mark 8:1-3 Jesus is testing His disciples to see what they were actually learning and retaining from all of the time He had spent with them! He said this:

1IN THOSE days when [again] an immense crowd had gathered and they had nothing to eat, Jesus called His disciples to Him and told them, 2I have pity and sympathy for the people and My heart goes out to them, for they have been with Me now three days and have nothing [left] to eat; 3And if I send them away to their homes hungry, they will be feeble through exhaustion and faint along the road; and some of them have come a long way.

Now remember that He had JUST fed the crowd of 5000 with only 5 loaves. This is how the disciples responded to Jesus. Verse 4:

4And His disciples replied to Him, How can anyone fill and satisfy [these people] with loaves of bread here in [this] desolate and uninhabited region?

What did Jesus do? He fed the 4000 from only 7 loaves! Do you think they would remember NOW, after being reminded of it by seeing it with there own eyes? Look at verses 15-16:

15And Jesus [repeatedly and expressly] charged and admonished them, saying, Look out; keep on your guard and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod and the Herodians. 16And they discussed it and reasoned with one another, It is because we have no bread.

Now we need to realize that these disciples weren't born again yet and did NOT have the Holy Spirit living in them. WE DO! We are really without excuse for not keeping God's Word first and foremost in everything we do! This is NOT religion we're speaking of, it is LIFE! The new life we all have in Him! Let's live like it!

Isaiah 29-30 tells of the the city of Jerusalem being captured in judgement for the people NOT following after God and His Word! This ALMOST happened in 701 BC when Assyria tried to take the city, but God delivered them! They SHOULD have learned from that and returned to the ways of the Lord. They DID NOT! So in 586 BC the city was actually conquered and destroyed. This Psalm also looks ahead to the Battle of Armageddon when the entire world will come out against the nation of Israel! God WILL vindicate them then! AMEN! Soon and very soon!

Shalom in Him!
