Shalom,

Psalm 72 is a prayer by David for his son and soon successor, Solomon. What a powerful thing it is to have parents who bring up children according to the Word of God and who pray for them! Parents, don't just TELL your children what to do, show them! Be living examples of the Word of God to them! Teach them how to pray, how to meditate the Word, how to praise and worship the One, True, Most High, Living, Almighty God of the Bible, how to stand in faith on the Word of God and how to EXPECT answers to their prayers! Encourage them to use every gift and talent that God has given them for His glory FIRST! We can't do it perfectly, but we CAN do it diligently, trusting in God to make up the difference! That is the greatest gift of love you can give to them! David began his prayer for Solomon in verses 1-2:

1GIVE THE king [knowledge of] Your [way of] judging, O God, and [the spirit of] Your righteousness to the king's son [to control all his actions]. 2Let him judge and govern Your people with righteousness, and Your poor and afflicted ones with judgment and justice.

David continues to pray for his son, but the Psalm becomes prophetic concerning the Lord Jesus Christ! I especially like verse 17:

17His name shall endure forever; His name shall continue as long as the sun [indeed, His name continues before the sun]. And men shall be blessed and bless themselves by Him; all nations shall call Him blessed!

Now become a doer of the Word by spending part of every day blessing the Lord with YOUR prayer, praise and worship! THAT is a POWERFUL life!

Hebrews 6:1-3 is a continuance of what Paul was talking about in Hebrews 5 concerning growing up beyond the "milk" stage of growth in the life of a believer.

1THEREFORE LET us go on and get past the elementary stage in the teachings and doctrine of Christ (the Messiah), advancing steadily toward the completeness and perfection that belong to spiritual maturity. Let us not again be laying the foundation of repentance and abandonment of dead works (dead formalism) and of the faith [by which you turned] to God, 2With teachings about purifying, the laying on of hands, the resurrection from the dead, and eternal judgment and punishment. [These are all matters of which you should have been fully aware long, long ago.] 3If indeed God permits, we will [now] proceed [to advanced teaching].

The phrase "let us go on" should actually be translated: "Let us be carried forward." Remember that it is the work of the Holy Spirit, Who indwells born again believers, to teach us the Word. Be carried forward in your knowledge of God's Word by the Holy Spirit Who is able to make the Word come alive and have individual and personalized meaning to YOU! That's how we grow up to the place where we can begin to put things together and understand the deeper things in the Word of God. That's a place of Spiritual maturity where the Word begins to seem so logical that you wonder why it wasn't so clear before! I LOVE that position and I LOVE the Word of God. Do you?

In Isaiah 57 he is addressing those who are involved in idolatry and not worshiping the One, True God of the Bible. Verse 13 he contrasts those with true believers:

13When you cry out, let your [rabble] collection of idols deliver you! But the wind shall take them all, a breath shall carry them away. But he who takes refuge in Me shall possess the land [Judea] and shall inherit My holy mountain [Zion, also the heavenly inheritance and the spiritual Zion].

In Isaiah 58 he addresses the religious ones. These are those who observe all of the rules and regulations, but NOT with their hearts. Verses 6-8 reveal what God truly desires from His people:

6[Rather] is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every [enslaving] yoke? 7Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house--when you see the naked, that you cover him, and that you hide not yourself from [the needs of] your own flesh and blood? 8Then shall your light break forth like the morning, and your healing (your restoration and the power of a new life) shall spring forth speedily; your righteousness (your rightness, your justice, and your right relationship with God) shall go before you [conducting you to peace and prosperity], and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

I believe that I will agree with HIM and do things HIS way! How about you?

Shalom in Him!
