Shalom,

It's been a while again! Let's get right back into meditating on God's Word. Our Spoken Word Church Bible Reading plan for today included reading Proverbs 2. The first part of that Proverb from the Amplified Bible says:

Proverbs 2:1-11 (Amplified)
1MY SON, if you will receive my words and treasure up my commandments within you, 2Making your ear attentive to skillful and godly Wisdom and inclining and directing your heart and mind to understanding [applying all your powers to the quest for it];
3Yes, if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding,
4If you seek [Wisdom] as for silver and search for skillful and godly Wisdom as for hidden treasures,
5Then you will understand the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of [our omniscient] God.
6For the Lord gives skillful and godly Wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7He hides away sound and godly Wisdom and stores it for the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with Him); He is a shield to those who walk uprightly and in integrity,
8That He may guard the paths of justice; yes, He preserves the way of His saints.
9Then you will understand righteousness, justice, and fair dealing [in every area and relation]; yes, you will understand every good path.
10For skillful and godly Wisdom shall enter into your heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant to you.

11Discretion shall watch over you, understanding shall keep you

The word "receive" in the first verse is actually the Hebrew word, laqach, which means: to take, to take to or for a person, to take possession of, to fetch, to capture. It's a very active and aggressive word! You don't just sit around and wait for the Word of God to fall on you. Instead you go after the precious promises in the Word in order to make them your own! God has hidden the promises in His Word so that we can find them for ourselves and make them our own! In fact the Word of God tells us this:

Proverbs 25:2 (Amplified)
2It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the glory of kings is to search out a thing.

WE are the kings spoken of in this verse! The word "glory" is the Hebrew Word, kabowd, which means: glorious, honor, abundance, copiousness, dignity and reputation. It was very good for God to hide His Word FOR us and it is a very good thing indeed for us to find it out!

Continue meditating on the rest of the verses shown above from Proverbs 2:1-11 in the Amplified Bible. This translation makes it very clear that God wants His people to really know His Word so that understanding will come and we can be doers of that Word, receiving the results He intends for us to receive. Learn to fall in love with the Word of God! You will be glad you did because He says this about His Words:

Proverbs 4:22 (Amplified)
22For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh

Shalom in Him!
